Today's prompt: Write a TMI poem
It wasn't plagiarizing.
It was flattery.
It's not my fault Gary Paulsen
included that part in Hatchet
when the boy goes down in
the plane and rips off his
fingernails
while trying to get the seatbelt
off so he can swim to the
surface.
Yes, my story was nearly identical,
but it was just because, as a
6th grader, I wanted to write
something just as adventurous.
And fingernail loss
makes me cringe.
